We have arranged them by area, to make it easier for you to locate them on the map and organize your own 10-day route through Bali.

What to see in and around Ubud

1.- Discover the sacred forest of monkeys in Ubud.

A visit to the monkey forest cannot be missed on a trip to Bali. Leave your bag or backpack at the hotel, grab your camera tightly and venture into the sacred forest of the monkeys.

In addition to observing monkeys in their natural habitat, the site offers a walk through lush forest and ancient temples with moss-covered statues.

2.- Stroll the photogenic Campuhan Ridge Walk

This walk has become very famous thanks to Instagram. The truth is that the path is very beautiful, surrounded by rice fields, but we went at sunset and found it full of tourists, so we advise you to get up early to avoid crowds and enjoy the walk quietly.

3.- The Goa Gajah temple of the elephant carved in the stone.

Goa Gajah "Elephant Cave" is an archaeological site of great historical value that makes it a very special place. The temple is located just six kilometers from the center of Ubud.

Our visit to the temple was based on a festival that is celebrated every four years and the temple was full of Balinese dressed in typical costumes and making offerings.

4.- Enjoy the gardens of the Taman Ayun temple

What most caught our attention about this temple were its gardens, which we found beautiful. In our opinion, if you are going to travel 10 days to Bali, it is one of the temples that you cannot miss.

5.- Give yourself a relaxing massage

If you need to relax, Bali is an ideal place for it. Although in Bali you can find many places to relax for a few days in the middle of the jungle, in a trip of only 10 days we prefer to have the massage in a more central place for a matter of time.

That is why we have included a visit to the spa in what to do in Ubud. In the city there are many spas and after a full day of temples and rice fields, nothing better than to have a good massage before going to dinner.

What to see in the center of Bali

6.- Bathe in the sacred waters of the Pura Tirta Empul temple

Tirta Empul is an important complex of temples and springs on a sacred mountain. The temple is very popular for its baths.

7.- Visit the rice terraces of Tegalalang, very close to Ubud.

These rice terraces are very close to Ubud, they stand out for their unevenness and how spectacular they are. The worst part is how crowded they are, so we recommend that you get up early and visit them very early.

8.- Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Although the waterfall is beautiful, we have to admit that we were a bit disappointed. When we went to see it it was full of tourists and it was impossible to enjoy it or take any photos.

If you want to see the waterfall quietly and take pictures, we recommend that you visit it early in the morning.

9.- Pura Kehen Temple

This temple is not one of the most beautiful in Bali, but it is so close to the temple of the pools that it does not cost anything to go and pay it a visit.

  • To get around this area you can rent a motorcycle or get around by taxi because everything is quite close.

We hired a driver for the six days that we stayed in Ubud and we were visiting the most cultural part of the island because we found it much more comfortable. Every afternoon we agreed with him a price for the places we wanted to visit and he would come to pick us up at 8 am every day at our hotel to do the excursion.

We recommend our driver 100% because he was great with us: He was always punctual, he explained in great detail all the places we were seeing on the road and the ones we visited and he told us about his culture and traditions.

He was also very patient with us and did not mind finishing the visits two and even three hours later than we had agreed if we entertained ourselves by taking photos or adding some last minute place to the excursion.

If you want to contact our driver, leave us a comment on the article and I will send you his phone number and name to the email.

Another option to visit this area of Ubud and the center of Bali is to hire a tour.

We have done some research and this tour looks very good and the guide speaks Spanish:

Other excursions with very good opinions from other travelers, but with an English guide are:

What to visit in North Bali

11.- Stroll through the famous Jatiluwih rice terraces, a World Heritage Site.

When we think of Bali, one of the images that comes to mind is that of rice terraces.

For us, the best rice terraces in Bali are those of Jatiluwih , at a distance of two hours from Ubud and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

There are several routes for walking or cycling between the rice terraces. The place is so big that you can enjoy it quietly, although there are always plenty of tourists.

12.- Pura Luhur Batukaru

This temple is very close to the Jatiluwih rice terraces, so you can take the opportunity to visit it on the same day.

We saw it raining heavily and still it seemed like a very charming temple.

17.- Eat at one of the many restaurants located on the shores of Lake Batur

Although the restaurants are very touristy and the food is not the best we have in Bali, it is worth stopping along the way and sitting down to eat peacefully in one of these restaurants with views of Mount Batur, an active volcano.

18.- Pure Pass Agung

It is the last of the temples that we are going to recommend you visit in this northeast area of Bali. It is not a very well known temple, but it is located on the slope of Mount Agung and the place is beautiful.

What to visit in East Bali

19.- Besakih Temple

The mother temple of Bali, the most important on the island.

Be careful when you go to visit it, it is so popular that the locals have gained fame and now they take advantage of tourists who are going to visit the temple and will try to get all the money they can with any excuse: A guide who doesn't really He has no idea and he doesn't even speak English well, a motorcycle ride ...

Our driver told us that the temple is starting to get a bad name even among the Balinese themselves because of the attitude of these locals.

20.- Taman Tirta Gangga

The complex of gardens, fountains and pools is wonderful.

Although it is well known and is always full of travelers, it still has wonderful corners to enjoy quietly.

We liked them very much and we took the opportunity to take a refreshing swim by ourselves in the pools that are hidden at the end of the gardens.

Garuda is the national symbol of Bali.

The park houses the statue of the god Vishnu riding the great Garuda. This sculpture has been designed to be one of the largest monuments in the world and the most impressive in Bali.

When we were in Bali it hadn't been opened yet, so we couldn't see it. If you are going to see it, tell us what you think, from the photos we have seen it seems impressive.

Other things to see in Bali in 10 days:

The 10-day trip to Bali that we have proposed in this article is very cultural. If you prefer not to see so many temples and take advantage of your time in Bali to do other activities, here are some ideas.

31.- Learn to cook Balinese food.

If you love cooking and you like Balinese gastronomy, a good activity to do in Bali is to learn how to cook its most traditional dishes.

  • If you want to discover all the secrets of Balinese cuisine here is a link where you can book a tour that includes a visit to the market, cooking classes and tasting of Balinese food in Spanish:

32.- Take a hiking route on Mount Batur at sunrise.

This is another very popular activity in Bali. Climb the Batur volcano to enjoy the sunrise and breathtaking views.

  • There are many excursions to go up Mount Batur to see the sunrise. We have been researching and reading the opinion of other travelers and this is the one that we liked the most because after the hard climb to the mountain you can enjoy a bath in hot springs:

33.- Take thousands of photos for your Instagram feed

If you are passionate about social networks and especially Instagram or if you love posing in Bali, you will find many very photogenic places that are perfect to make your Instagram account the envy of your friends.

Some of the most instagrammable places in Bali are:

  • The gates of the Handara Golf resort.

That is, if you are willing to take a million photos that do not happen to you like us. As we are a disaster we have lost half of the photos of the trip and now we only have some of the mobile.

Anyway ... it's going to take us to go back to Bali, all for the Blog.

This is just an idea of the places that we consider essential what to see in Bali in 10 days. The island of the gods gives you much more and if you have more time to explore it there are a million more things you can do like spending a few days in a yoga retreat.

You may have noticed that in this selection we have not included such popular places as Kuta and we have been missing some very famous waterfalls in Bali such as Sekumpul Waterfall. The reason is that in 10 days you will not be able to see the entire island, so we have tried to select a great diversity of places to see and things to do and we have excluded others that were a little out of the way.

We have also left Nusa Penida and the Gili Islands off the route because it seemed to us that 10 days were not enough to see everything and we preferred to leave the islands for another trip, but if you prefer to take a few days off Bali and add Nusa Penida or the Gili Islands to your itinerary, you are sure to have a great time too.

If you go to Bali, write us a comment and tell us what you think. It is one of our favorite countries and we are already looking forward to returning to continue exploring Bali.
