As we have said many times and we love to brag about it, Australia is spectacular , you only have to go 40 km away from Sydney to be able to enjoy nature and delight yourself with impressive landscapes such as Curracurrong Falls and Eagle Rock.

A great place to hike and enjoy beautiful beaches is the Royal National Park , just an hour's drive south of Sydney. We already talked to you on one occasion about Wattamolla Beach , one of the most spectacular beaches in the park, although it is too crowded in summer on weekends. This time we want to show you a hiking route that begins at Garie Beach , another of the park's beaches, less popular and therefore more suitable to visit in the summer season.

Comments about the hike

As you can see on the map, the route begins in Garie Beach, so it is best to leave your car in the parking lot on the beach and start walking . The route follows the marked path to perform The Coast Track , once you get to the beach you must go left to travel the coastal path to Eagle Rock.

It is a round trip route, completely signposted, it is classified as a degree four of difficulty , because at the beginning you have to climb quite a few stone steps to reach the cliff, about 350 meters high, but it is completely worth it.

Once you reach the cliffs you can enjoy spectacular views of the Royal National Park coastline . The path continues until you reach the Curracurrong waterfalls, one of the most impressive in the Sydney region, because the two streams end on the cliff, pouring their water into the ocean.

As we have done the route in summer, the rivers do not carry much water so we could see the fall of the water up close to the ocean. As we had read, the wind pushes the water backwards and causes a very nice effect on the edge of the cliff and a quite refreshing shower.

The best place to see the falls and enjoy a general view of the Royal National Park coastline is Eagle Rock, the eagle-shaped rock is a natural vantage point to observe the waterfalls, enjoy the scenery and take some impressive photos.
